How to become a Macmillan Business Champion in Tameside
Friday 15th July 2016 @ 14:56 by Adam Higgins

The Macmillan Business Champions’ Club in Tameside is being officially launched this week as the appeal for The Tameside Macmillan Unit gathers pace.

Mandy West, Macmillan’s corporate fundraising manager, has been live on Tameside Radio’s business show this afternoon (Monday) to explain how you can join the new Macmillan Business Champions’ Club in Tameside and help build the new unit at Tameside Hospital.

What is the unit for?

Every year, more than 1,250 people in Tameside and Glossop are told the devastating news that they have cancer and more than 7,000 are living with or beyond cancer.

With no dedicated facilities for cancer patients at Tameside Hospital, there is an urgent need for a purpose-built centre where local people can access specialist cancer treatment, information and ongoing support.

The Tameside Macmillan Unit is a joint venture between Macmillan Cancer Support and Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to bring cancer treatment, care and support together for the first time in one purpose-built facility.

The new centre will provide outpatient cancer, chemotherapy and haematology services, as well as a new information and support centre, and other non-clinical facilities, under one roof.

It will mean that more people living with and beyond cancer in Tameside and Glossop will be able to access more services closer to home. But your help with fundraising to help build the unit is needed now.

What is the Business Champions’ Club?

From this week, Macmillan is teaming up with The Tameside Reporter and Tameside Radio to launch the ‘Macmillan Business Champions’ Club in Tameside’.

This is your opportunity as a business to join others in the area in helping to build the new Tameside Macmillan Unit, and leave a permanent reminder in the building of your support.

If your business pledges a minimum of £1,000 for the new Tameside Macmillan Unit, you will become one of our Macmillan Business Champions and will get some amazing benefits.

By pledging to raise £1,000 for the new Tameside Macmillan Unit, you will receive in return:

•  Your logo featured in the Tameside Reporter as a supporter of the Tameside Macmillan Unit and member of the Macmillan Business Champions Group In Tameside.

•  Recognition at the Tameside Macmillan Unit.

•  Recognition on The Tameside Reporter dedicated Macmillan Business Champions page.

•  An invitation to the opening reception once the build is complete.

•  An interview on Tameside Radio.

•  A club membership pack, regular updates on the progress of the new Macmillan Tameside Unit, as well as a certificate of membership.

We are also planning a networking event to meet other Macmillan Business Champions in Tameside.

We want to give small businesses the opportunity to join together and show their support, and just imagine, if we could get 100 Macmillan Business Champions – we could raise £100,000.
