Motorcycling ace Adam Gittings says he’s feeling confident as he returns to the scene of his ‘worst ever result’ at Rockingham this week. (JULY 29)

The Manchester-born rider is heading into the latest weekend of Thundersport GB season in Northamptonshire determined to right the wrongs of last year, when he was involved in a collision that caused a hand injury and put him out of the four races.

But the Selco Builders Warehouse-backed 23-year-old star is in a confident mood following an eighth-place finish at Oulton Park, which put him within reach of the top ten of the Pre National Sport 600 Championship.

Gittings, from Hyde, said: “Last year’s race at Rockingham was our worst result. A collision in warm-up put me out of racing for the whole weekend so this will be the first time I race there competitively.

“I’ve done a few track days there but that doesn’t compare to a race environment and I’m determined to put right what went wrong last time.

“The bike’s strength is on those long straights and that’s what this circuit has. It’s a technical track and if I can get the rest of the course right then I really think we’ll see the best of what the bike can do on the straights.”

Gittings is not allowing his lack of race time at Rockingham affect his preparation.

He added: “Make no mistake, it won’t be easy as 99 per cent of the riders have experienced race time at Rockingham but I’m feeling confident and looking forward to getting out there on the bike.

“I finished eighth at Oulton Park and I’m currently just outside the top ten in 12th in the championship so finishing among the top riders would certainly be an achievement.

“As I see it we have a long way left in the season so it’s about me getting out there and showing everyone what I can do.”
