Portland Basin hosted its fifth annual Tame Valley Vintage and Classic Car Club visit on Sunday outside the Bridge View cafe.

Aaron Longley, England International Lacrosse player was on hand to present the prizes, including one to Brian Lord  for his 1956 Austin A30.

Brian was delighted as the car is celebrating its 60th anniversary!

Brian acquired the car in 1997, it has a 1098cc engine which will speed the car up to a theoretical 87mph.

However, he says given that it has no requirement for an MOT (or road tax) only the brave would venture anywhere near that speed.

The car is painstakingly cared for and is used everyday, and with annual insurance of only £58 it offers relatively cheap motoring.

The award was for ‘Best in show’ as voted for by visitors to Bridge View Cafe.

The event was well attended and the visitors were impressed with the quality and range of cars from Triumph, Volks-
wagen, MG, Rover, Ford
Mustang, Plymouth, Buick, BMW, Morris and Austin.
