A Glossop author is printing another 100 copies of a book on her hero uncle.

Last week we revealed how Norma Higginbottom’s book about Private William Anthony McKinlay had sold out.

Norma, whose uncle was killed at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli within days of the conflict starting, wasn’t thinking of a re-print.

But she called the Chronicle on Monday to say a surge in interest had made her think again.

“All 100 copies sold very quickly,” she said.

“So I am now thinking of having another 50 printed.”

Norma’s book, called ‘The Dusty Disc’, tells how her uncle died at the age of 18.

She wrote it as a tribute to Private McKinley, following research by local historian Nigel Dunkerley.

She also used material from her uncle’s dairy which he kept until the day he died.
