CURZON Ashton have made their fourth signing in as many days after securing the signature of former Ashton United and Northwich Victoria midfielder Iain Howard.

He joins Michael Potts, Jack Truelove and Paul Ennis in making the move to the Tameside Stadium this week.

Howard was part of the Vics team which beat Glossop North End in the Evo-Stik First Division North play-offs last season and came so close to promotion but lost 2-0 to Spennymoor Town in the final.

The versatile 28-year-old started his career at Preston North End before moving to Ashton, for whom he scored 34 goals in 130 appearances.

Howard bucks the trend of former Stalybridge Celtic players joining the Nash so far this summer but he did score a hat-trick against Celtic in September 2012 during his time at Chester.

He has also enjoyed spells at Stockport County, Nantwich Town and Atherton Colleries.

Howard will be hoping to play a pivotal role at the heart of Curzon’s midfield as John Flanagan’s men prepare for their second season in the National League North.

The club are due to announce their fifth and final signing of the week on Friday at 4pm.
