Audenshaw-based Brother employees have swapped the office for the great outdoors to help spruce up Dukinfield Park.

A team of 24 employees spent a day creating a path with wood chippings, planting bluebells and snowdrops to create a border, making bird boxes and litter picking.

More than 130 employees from the Audenshaw-based company are taking part in this year’s series of environmental days.

BIE employees have already spent a day at Derwent Valley in the Peak District and further environmental days are planned, including one at Gorse Hall in Stalybridge.

Diane Carling, European Environmental coordinator at BIE, said: “Our annual environmental days prove extremely popular with employees and a fantastic opportunity for them to help the local community.

“As well as offering staff a fun team-building day it demonstrate Brother’s environmental credentials and our ‘At your side’ motto.”

Cllr Allison Gwynne, Executive Member for Environment at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, said: “Thank you to the staff from Brother for volunteering with the Greenspace Team.

“They have contributed to their local environment by undertaking work in Dukinfield Park which will be enjoyed by all our residents.

“It’s National Volunteers’ Week and this is a great example of a company contributing to their local community.”
