Hospice supporters stepped out in style last Friday night as Willow Wood celebrated its tenth annual fundraiser “the Moonlight Walk”.

Hundreds of walkers took to the streets of Tameside to raise vital funds for the Ashton-based hospice and for once were able to complete the 10k route in the dry.

John Fellowes, Head of Fundraising/PR for the hospice said: “It is fair to say that we have suffered our fair share of rain at this event over the years, but Friday’s event was bone dry, which was a huge bonus.”

He added: “The sight of so many hospice supporters winding their way through the streets of Tameside all raising vital funds for the hospice is a truly amazing spectacle.

“The fun, the laughter, the smiles on walkers’ faces, the marvellous fancy dress outfits, all added to a marvellous night.

“It was a fantastic night, but this would not have been possible without the tremendous support we have
received from everyone.

“I would like to thank each and every one who took part, our valued volunteer marshals in the park and out on the route, sponsors MK Electrical, Raynet Communication, Mediskills, Marchstream Tool Hire, FSN Security, Volunteers from Blood Bikes and Rising Moon Bike Club and to everyone who sponsored the Wanderers.

“It’s far too early to even estimate the total raised as it will take several weeks for all the sponsor money to come into the hospice,” added John.
