Dogs Trust Manchester in Denton is appealing to a big-hearted dog lover to rescue its smallest ever resident.

Tiny Trudy (pictured left) is a less than pint sized Papillon who has been officially identified as the smallest dog to ever arrive at the centre in need of a home.

Weighing just 1.4kg, less than a bag of flour, the 12-year-old is the dinkiest dog that staff at the rehoming centre have welcomed since opening in October 2014.

Nicknamed ‘Tiny Trudy’ by the team, she arrived at the Denton centre last week along with her pal ten-year-old Cleo (pictued right), after their owner had to give them up after going into residential care.

Now staff at the centre are hoping a big-hearted owner can give the devoted dainty duo the loving home they deserve.

Dawn Bishop, rehoming centre Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, said: “Papillons are of course a small breed but we were so surprised by how tiny Trudy is.

“She is a lovely girl, as is Cleo, and they both certainly prove that good things come in small packages!

“We have lots of little dogs looking for homes, but of the more than 1,500 dogs we’ve rehomed since opening, Trudy is our smallest.”

Trudy and Cleo are looking for a calm, quiet home together where they will get lots of attention and nice walks.

They don’t mind meeting four-legged friends when they are out and about but would prefer to be the only two dogs in their forever home.

They would suit an adult only home, or one with children aged over 16, and they aren’t fond of felines so would like a cat-free home.

Dawn added: “Although Trudy is the smaller of the pair, she has a little more confidence than Cleo who can be a bit nervous on first meeting new people.

“But when they get to know you they both love having a cuddle and being made a fuss of.

“They deserve a lovely home and we’re hoping that it won’t be too long before their perfect owner comes along and takes both of them to their heart.”

If you think you can offer Trudy and Cleo a loving new home, please call 0300 303 0292 or pop along to the centre on Parkway, Denton, Manchester.
