Tameside’s Missing Million Goes Unclaimed
Friday 8th April 2016 @ 10:31 by Tom Greggan

One unlucky person in Tameside has missed out on becoming a millionaire after a £1,000,000 National Lottery prize has gone unclaimed.

The £1,000,000 Millionaire Raffle prize from the Lotto draw on 10 October 2015, which was bought somewhere in the borough, has remained unclaimed more than 180 days after the draw date- meaning the deadline, midnight on Thursday 7th April, has now passed.

As the deadline has now passed the money, plus the interest it earned, has now gone to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

Life-changing projects in Tameside made possible by The National Lottery include:

· People First Tameside. Funding of nearly £10,000 to this registered charity has helped provide next generation IT systems to support people with learning disabilities access computers, the internet, digital media and training workshops.

· Friends of Mossley Base. This voluntary group has used just over £8,000 in National Lottery funding to establish a Citizens Advice Bureau within their community to improve access to service and give advice on welfare/rights services.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this amazing prize. To avoid this unfortunate situation happening again, I would urge all National Lottery players to check their tickets on a regular basis.

“We tried very hard to find the ticket-holder and it’s a real shame that they have missed out, but there is still one winner – the nation. This money, and all the interest earned over the 180 days, will now go to benefit projects all over the UK funded by The National Lottery.”

With all National Lottery draws, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket. Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0844 338 7551 or email [email protected]
