Staff at Ashton’s Broadoak Primary School have officially opened their stunning new school building.

Parents, governors and representatives of Tameside Council all attended for the official opening.

After an assembly, where children showed their filmed tours around the school, local resident and staff member Debbie Evans cut a ribbon with headteacher Des Howlett to declare the new building open.

This was followed by tours for parents where they could visit the learning resource centres, the studio, and the computer suite, as well as see their children in their new classrooms.

The new Broadoak Primary School building has been designed by school staff to be the best learning environment possible.

Broadoak Primary School has been a wonderful place for children in the community for more than 60 years. In the first week of the new school building there was a brilliant World Book Day with incredible outfits all over the school, the school choir took part in the wonderful Young Voices concert at the Manchester Arena and the school gymnastics squad represented Tameside at the national school games.

Mr Howlett said: “This school has been built for the children and families of the Broadoak community.
“I hope it gives those families as many years of success and happiness as the last building.

“I am sure that we will be able to create as many amazing memories and produce as many fantastic children as the last 60 years of Broadoak Primary School.”
