Full Of Festive Cheer
Friday 22nd January 2016 @ 16:08 by Mark Phillip

Families who escaped from domestic abuse enjoyed a bit more Christmas cheer this year thanks to local businesses, churches, individuals and groups.

Glossop-based Crossroads Derbyshire, formerly High Peak Women’s Aid, supports families escaping domestic abuse from across the High Peak.

Services manager Pam Whittle said: “Christmas is an important time for families and we know how hard it can be to be away from family and friends at this time of year.

“That’s why it’s important to make Christmas special for the families we support, both in our refuge accommodation and in the community.

“Thank you so much to all the people who donated toys and gifts to help make Christmas special.”

Pam also thanked Mettrick’s Butchers and East Midlands Chamber (High Peak), who between them, donated everything needed for a Christmas dinner for the residents of the refuge accommodation.

Pam said: “Our staff called today to collect all the ‘trimmings’ from East Midlands Chamber, and were delighted to meet the staff dressed in their Christmas jumpers!”

Crossroads Derbyshire provides safe accommodation and outreach support for families from across the High Peak and further afield who are experiencing or have escaped domestic abuse.
