Floods in Uppermill and Tameside

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Closer to Tameside, reports of Daisy Nook being flooded
  • Well’i’hole Road in Greenfield is closed
  • A635 Holmfirth Road is covered in deep standing water. Reports of aquaplaning at 30mph – be careful
  • Churchill Playing fields is covered in flood water from River Tame
  • More rain expected tonight
  • Thankfully, some rivers seem to have resided about a foot

Meanwhile, in Uppermill, there is an appeal for sandbags on the rear High Street, School Street and other low-lying areas and for a team of volunteers willing to help tonight if the situation worsens. Anyone able to volunteer tonight or able to drop off sandbags can leave their number in confidence with Nick onĀ 0771 2881831.
