Audenshaw School Director of Football, Richard Watt, reached his 500th game in charge of the school football programme on Monday afternoon.

His side beat St Francis Xavier of Liverpool 7-2 in the National Cup.

Mr Watt joined the school in 2007 and most famously coached the 2008/09 U14 team to the ESFA National Championship.

Mr Watt, who himself played for Ashton United, has a winning percentage of nearly 80% and has coached many of the players who have gone on to pursue professional careers, including Tom Thorpe of Manchester United and England, Ellis Plummer of Manchester City and England and Zach Clough who plays in the SkyBet Championship for Bolton Wanderers.

The 2015/16 campaign is following a similar pattern of success with 32 games played across the age groups with 26 victories and 205 goals scored.
