The Civic Mayor and Mayoress of Tameside Cllr Vincent Ricci and his wife Julie had the honour of officially opening the Dress For Success charity’s Audenshaw shop last Thursday.
They found out about the charity which has relocated to its address in Garden Street in the town.
Dress for Success provides professional attire and career consultations to help women who have experienced hardship get back into work.
The charity was previously based in Manchester City Centre but has relocated to be based right in the heart of the local community.
The charity has been working with new partners, New Charter Housing and training provider SeeTec.
It is also relaunching with a new vision to open up more premises in areas of deprivation across Greater Manchester as well as setting up a warehouse project to provide opportunities for up to 60 work experience placements.
The charity’s Anna Gilhooley said: “Dress For Success Manchester was originally founded back in 2013 with city centre premises, but we have come to Tameside to become much more grass roots and integrate with the community.
“It’s taken about six months to get everything ready so we are shop ready and can open to the public, but also so we can be ready to help the unemployed women that we help as a charity.
“We help women thrive in work and in life and provide confidence coaching, clothes and interview training so they can go on to get that job!”
