Donate a toy and help Tameside’s disadvantaged children

Most children eagerly anticipate the coming of Christmas Day; where beautifully wrapped presents are carefully placed under a brightly lit tree.

However for thousands of children from poverty-stricken families throughout Tameside, this day is one of the bleakest – but this year, you can make a difference.

In the run up to the big day, we are calling on all readers to donate new, unopened toys as part of the Tameside Christmas Toy Appeal.

On Saturday, a dedicated team of volunteers from Tameside 4 Good, Tameside Radio, Tameside Reporter and Tameside Rotary Club braved the cold to collect gifts from outside Asda in Ashton. They received many presents from kind-hearted shoppers.

Amy Watson, Tameside 4 Good development worker, said: “We’re really pleased that local businesses and the community are keen to come together to help local families who are struggling.

“The toys will be given to children and young people in need and we know at this time of year this really makes a difference. Together we can make Christmas special for every child living in Tameside.”
