The Ashton branch of Soroptimist International has presented a cheque for £400 to Denton-based charity STARs.

‘Special Time and Relaxation Sessions’ are a charity which works to give totally disabled children special relaxation time in safe surroundings.

The charity moved into the Carmel Christian Centre in Denton two years ago, allowing it to expand and develop the services it provides.

The money came from former member Margaret Rogerson, who left it to the club with strict instructions on how it should be used to benefit the young people of Tameside.

The charity will now use the money to buy a hoist for the bathroom at the Carmel
Christian Centre.

The Soroptimist’s now look forward to their next event which is a concert of seasonal music at Albion United Reformed Church Ashton, on Saturday December 5 at 7.30pm.

It’s being held in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and tickets are now on sale priced at £8.
