Petition to Move Dangerous Give Way Sign

Parish councillors say a ‘rat run’ road in Charlesworth is even more dangerous since the county council put up a ‘Give Way’ sign.

They claim it is confusing and needs shifting before someone gets hurt.

The councillors told the latest meeting that the sign near the junction of Town Lane and Monks Road would be better placed if it was moved a couple of yards.

In a bid to get that done they have come up with a petition which is circulating in the village.

Councillors say they have been told it was put there because a telegraph pole was in what they see as a better location.

The petition has only been out a couple of weeks but villagers are already signing.

They believe it is vitally important as Town Lane is used as a cut through by drivers from Glossop and Hayfield wanting to avoid lengthy delays at Brookfield and Mottram Moor.
