Hundreds of people spent an hour last Sunday jogging through Glossop to help three great causes.

Glossop Fun Run, formerly known as ‘the Jog’ had come around again and the warm, sunny weather made for a great turn out. Organiser Barrie Powney expects the Glossop Rotary Club event to have raised £6000 to £6500.

That’s news which will be welcomed by the main beneficiaries; Mummy’s Star, Glossop Mountain Rescue and Willow Wood Hospice.

Barrie said: “We had 316 runners which is slightly down on last year, there was the usual support from schools, Duke of Norfolk’s had the highest number of runners with 58.

“Our Paul Scullion collated all the runners on the day with a spread sheet which he delivered to schools showing how their pupils had done and their sponsorship totals.
