Glossopdale’s Poppy Day Appeal organiser is calling for more people to help with this year’s campaign.

Poppy sales start on Saturday, with collectors out on the streets and in supermarkets.

Now George Wharmby is keen to enlist more.

His wife Cllr Jean Wharmby, who is part of the appeal team, said: “We need more people to sell poppies on the streets and in Tesco and Glossop Co-op.

“The more volunteers we get, the more hours we can sell poppies in both stores.

“We are also hoping to get in Aldi and M and S, so we would need volunteers for those as well.”

Jean says volunteers can be any age, although very young helpers would have to work with an adult.

She also said that volunteers could chose to sell poppies on the streets, or inside the stores.

“We also need people to help count all the money,” she said.

If you want to volunteer, or just want more information, call George or Jean on 01457 856905 or 07970 757434.
