Denton’s St Lawrence’s Church opened its doors to take part in this year’s Heritage Open Days.

Dating back to Henry VIII, St Lawrence’s Church features the typical wattle and daub of the Tudor era, as well as a Victorian extension to the chapel area.

Over the Heritage weekend, volunteers opened up the church and provided information for visitors to allow them to appreciate the history of the almost 500-year old church.

We spoke to visitor Janet Bailey who had travelled from Middleton to look around the church.

“It’s absolutely beautiful and I’m delighted to see it looking how it does now as the last time I visited there were lots of building work and lots of scaffolding, so I’m going to get some great pictures this time.”
