A man has had his head stamped on in a vicious attack in Denton.

The 18-year-old victim had been walking down the alleyway by the old library at the junction of Ashworth Street, when two men wearing balaclavas approached him from behind.

He was grabbed and punched in the face causing him to fall to the ground.

They stamped on his head and left him unconscious.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a serious jaw injury.

It happened between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday 11 August.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Both offenders were wearing hoodies, one Adidas and one Nike, gloves and balaclavas.

Detective Constable Claire Robinson of Tameside division said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack, which left a man in a lot of pain in hospital. He is now recovering at home, but was extremely shaken by the attack.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at that time and saw the two men fleeing the scene, to contact police.”
