Six men have now been arrested after shots were fired in Denton last week.

Two of the arrests were made in the Ashton area on Monday when a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old were arrested.

The two arrests come days after four men were arrested on Friday after a number of warrants were executed in Denton and Hattersley.

A 31-year-old and a 23-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder along with a 28-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of affray and a 31-year-old man on suspicion of production of cannabis.

All four of the men have been bailed pending further enquiries until October.

Police received reports of a shotgun being fired on Spenser Avenue by two men wearing balaclavas.

Detective Inspector Andy Sandiford of the Tameside Division Organised Crime Team said: “Along with the warrants executed last week, I hope that these arrests will further act as a message to the public that incidents of this nature are completely unacceptable and we will continue to pursue those who we believe to be involved.

“Again, I would like I would like to thank the local community for their assistance and continued support of the police and encourage anyone with information about the original incident to contact us.”
