Just before midnight police tried to pull over a green Volkswagen Polo in Bredbury, however the two people in the car failed to stop, which resulted in a police helicopter tracking the chase from Lower Bents Lane and up into the heart of Gee Cross.

After a high-speed pursuit by officers lasting ten minutes, the car was eventually abandoned on Waverley Road in Gee Cross as the two males tried to flee the scene.

Reinforcements arrived armed with sniffer dogs as the two suspects fled between the back gardens of properties nearby on Laburnum Avenue.

The Police have now arrested a teenager on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle and have one outstanding arrest for the other man in the car.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
