Warnings for dog walkers to be extra vigilant when walking their animals in Stalybridge’s Cheetham Park continued this week.

The warning follows reports that a pet was poisoned in the park after eating pellets which had been strewn around.

Tameside Animal Shelter was first to issue a warning to owners through its social media website Facebook following reports that the dog had been poisoned.

At first it was feared that the animal has died, but fortunately it has since become clear that the pet is recovering from its ordeal.

However, Tameside Council is also warning dog owners to take extra care while walking their pets and appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them.

More on this in this week’s (19th March) Tameside Reporter out now.
