It has been a long time coming, but Cafe Football Old Trafford has finally arrived in Manchester thanks to the completion of Hotel Football.

Destined to be a success on Old Trafford matchdays, our Reporter Max Wieland visited on a busy away day for Manchester United fans.

United supporters from far and wide packed into Cafe Football Old Trafford to watch the red devils take on fierce rivals Liverpool at the city’s premier new sporting venue yesterday.

Throw in the fact that the critically acclaimed food offering of Cafe Football dominates the new site only adds to the spectacle for football fans.

The food on offer is simple enough but is impressive in quality.

Tucking into the brilliant but simple ‘Boss’ burger, I would like to think Sir Alex Ferguson would approve with an old twinkle at his watch.

Food is Inventive

The food is inventive but also spectacularly superior to anything a cafes name would suggest.

Dominated by TV screens and an indie rock music soundtrack in between each footballing half, the venue is clearly designed to entertain as well as meeting a specific dining requirement.

Kitted out to a high standard and packed to the rafters, it is hard not to see Cafe Football Old Trafford being a success in Manchester.

And given its location in addition to ex-Manchester United legends supervision, it is undoubtedly a welcome addition to the city.

The only question upon leaving is why has it taken so long?

I am sure I will not be the only customer returning to this new go-to restaurant with its sporting spectacle undertones.

For it’s hard to see Cafe Football Old Trafford being matched let alone rivalled.

  • The next Match Day Fan experience at Hotel Football Old Trafford takes place on Saturday 4 April for Manchester United versus Aston Villa, costing £40 and including a Question and Answer session with Gary and Philip Neville along with post match analysis with Ryan Giggs in the venues stadium suite.
