Commemorating The First World War took on a slightly different format last week when teams were put through their paces by the 103rd Regiment Royal Artillery.

TEAM WORK: The team players who were put through their paces.

Ashton’s King George V Playing Fields played host to commendable physical efforts, as teams from Tameside Council and Active Tameside were challenged in a series of events to raise funds for Tameside4Good.

Challenges included a water carry relay, tackling an inflatable assault course, with the tug of war bringing proceedings to a close.

Speaking to the Reporter about the day’s events, Emma Varnam, Head of Culture at Tameside Council, said: “The events were an alternative way to honour the sacrifices which armed forces make on a daily basis.”
