GRIMEBUSTERS: The Greystones team prepare for the clean up.

After an appeal by a local girl named Jessica, the Greystones team were drafted in to remedy the problem caused by litter bugs.

Donned in their trademark Hi-Vis jackets, the group of men, aged 35 and over, took to Nelson and Mona Street to tackle the litter problem that has recently plagued the area.

Among the swathes of rubbish hiding in the shrubs was a fire surround, accompanied by generic waste items including crisp packets and bottles.

Speaking to the Reporter about the litter pick, Cllr John Taylor heaped praise on the Greystones team and outlined the importance of actively participating in such events. He said: “The Greystones team are fast becoming an integral part of the community when it comes to making streets cleaner.”
