The crowds turned out to celebrate the crowning of St George’s new Church Rose Queen on Saturday.

Hannah Kippax, 13, was crowned in an entertaining ceremony in the parish church by her grandma Doris Williamson in front of a congregation which included visiting queens from around Tameside and Oldham and also the Mayoress of Mossley Val Carter.

Hannah, who attends the Blue Coat School in Oldham, takes over the role from her friend Leah Williams who has represented St George’s throughout the past year.

The ceremony was officiated by Father Lindsay and Revd Pauline Philips and included a musical interlude by Millie Cunliffe from Mossley’s Next Generation’s youth drama group.

Hannah and Leah also gave speeches thanking everyone for making the day special.
