Race for Life

Ladies from the Dukinfield Slimming World group have accomplished their task of running this year’s Race for Life.

Consultant Claire Rhodes ran the race for the eighth time this year, but after becoming a consultant for the organisation two years ago, she began to open the idea up to her members who decided to join her in raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Seven of Claire’s members ran the race last Sunday in Stockport and between them have lost a massive 24 and-a-half stone in just one year.

Claire said: “It was fantastic and such a beautiful day for it too. Everybody did really well. Some people walked, some jogged and some ran, but we all finished in under 45 minutes.

“One member joined Slimming World because she has a two-year-old boy that she wanted to be able to run around after and I asked her if she had ever dreamed she would be doing
something like this last year, as it would have been a struggle to walk, but now she is bike riding and running and she told me it saved her life. On the day her little boy was there to support her.”
