Lymefield visitor centre saved by people power.

People power has saved Broadbottom’s former Lymefield Visitor Centre for the folk who love it to bits.

Tameside Council who were planning to sell the Lower Market Street complex have leased it to Lymefield Action Group.

And that means – subject to the cash coming in to run it – a multi-use centre for everyone to enjoy.

Delighted group official Jane Redshaw said on Tuesday: “It’s ours, we will be signing the lease in the next few days.

“The lease will be for three years, with an option to negotiate after those three years.”

The first six months will be rent free, then it’s £6,500 a year.

Jane and the rest of her colleagues are over the moon that they have ‘saved’ what will now be known as Lymefield Outdoor Learning Centre.
