MAYOR TO BE: Cllr Dawson Lane.

MAYOR TO BE: Cllr Dawson Lane.

Denton Councillor Dawson Lane will join his wife Cllr Jackie Lane in completing a rare quadruple when he is installed as Civic Mayor of Tameside for 2014-15 at the council’s annual meeting at Ashton Town Hall next month.

For when he accepts the chain of office it will mean that he and his wife will each have filled all four of Tameside’s civic posts.

Both will have been mayor and deputy mayor, as well as mayor’s consort or mayoress, and deputy mayor’s consort.

Cllr Dawson Lane was Deputy Mayor of Tameside in 2010-11, Deputy Mayor’s Consort in 2003-04 and Mayor’s Consort in 2005-06.  In each case he supported, or was supported by, his wife, Jackie.

He said: “It is a great honour to be asked to be Civic Mayor of Tameside. During my year of office I am looking forward to meeting as many community and voluntary groups as possible, but most especially to working with disadvantaged children and young people.”
