A charity concert is being held for a man who starred in musicals and plays all over Tameside for more than half a century.

Bill Owen, who helped produce the Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle, died in December.

But now his life time on the amateur stage is being marked by the social and entertainments group of Dukinfield Methodist Church.

It is staging a concert at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 17, in the church hall on Wellington Parade, that mirrors Bill’s stage life.

The evening of entertainment promises to be faithful to Bill’s long and varied career, consisting of musical numbers from shows he had been involved with or enjoyed, and sketches.

Church members will also be adding their support to performers from local operatic societies.
