Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in Ashton.

Just after 1am on Friday 18th April, the victim was standing next to the Ashton Metrolink Station when he was approached by two men.

The offenders attacked the victim, punching him and leaving him lying on the floor before kicking him in the head causing him to lose consciousness.

The victim was left badly injured by the attack requiring treatment for head wounds at Tameside Hospital.

It is believed that the two men were drinking in the same pub as the victim before the attack.

Police have issued CCTV images of the two men.
