100 birthday

Three special New Charter residents have been celebrating another milestone birthday.

Alice McMinn, Doris Otter and Mary (Edith) Gorman all celebrated their hundredth birthdays last year and were back together again one year on for their latest birthday celebrations.

Last year the three ladies received their letters from the Queen and celebrated with Tameside Mayor, Cllr Brenda Warrington.

Another year on and the celebrations continue as the trio met with New Charter Housing’s mascot, Nora the Owl to be wished many happy returns for their 101st birthdays.

The ladies gathered in the dining room shortly before lunch at the sheltered housing scheme at Pendle Road in Denton.

Although all ladies are (or soon to be) 101 years old, they still have their sense of humour, having a friendly debate about who is the oldest.

Nora received a warm welcome from the ladies as they gathered around to have a chat before having their picture taken with the mascot.

Miriam Harlow, New Charter scheme manager at Pendle House, said: “All of the ladies are great characters and we wish them another big happy birthday for turning 101.

“We celebrated with a special dinner and it was good to see the ladies having some fun with Nora the Owl.”
