Cromwell School in Dukinfield has been given the green light to build a unique community coffee shop and is now aiming to raise the £20,000 needed.

The school, which is for pupils with severe learning difficulties, hope that the café will help bring the community together and make Cromwell a real local hub….

The coffee shop will also be run by pupils to help provide them with important life skills and work experience.

School Business Manager Debbie Blezard said: “It’s to give our children independence and confidence within the wider community because they have so many boundaries in life.

“There are lots of restrictions for what they can’t do, so we just want to give them as much experience of life as possible.”

The plan is that Ashton Sixth Form students will come in to help too alongside food technology students from Astley Sports College, based just next door.
