HELP TO RELOCATE JOBS AS PARK CAFE CLOSES.

After just over a year the Park Café in Hyde is closing its doors as council funding is withdrawn.

The café was run by Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind and funded by Tameside Council.

The idea was that it would become a self-sustaining project over three years, but the council has now served notice on the contract.

Mind’s catering director Bari Pollard said: “Originally the contract was for three years, but we reviewed at the end of the year and the council were concerned about how quickly we could make it self-sustaining and we were also worried about that.

“So we had to look at what risk we could take as an organisation as to how much money we could invest in it and we felt that we couldn’t in all consciousness do it to the best of our ability, the best for our students, the best for everyone really.”
