APPEAL: Father Lindsay pointing to the spot where the new memorial will sit.

The funds needed to put up a memorial remembering fallen soldiers since World War Two are nearing completion.
The £1,800 financial implications of funding such a memorial have been no deterrent for those at St George’s Church, who felt it was only right to create a third in-house memorial. Currently, the funds collected so far have exceeded £1,550.
In a bid to generate the £250 needed to complete the job, Father Richard Lindsay of St George’s in Mossley has called on those with money to spare to donate to the worthy cause.
“Once the funds have been raised, the memorial will have the names John Ronald Hall and Joseph Etchells inscribed immediately,” he said.
The names refer to the two fallen soldiers who gave their lives for their country and both died in their 20s. John Hall passed away in 1949 at the age of 20, while Joseph Etchells died just four years ago at the age of 22.
