More than 100 senior citizens enjoyed a Christmas party at the Dukinfield Community Centre on Monday.

The free event is held each year and is just for the town’s pensioners.

Cllr Jackie Lane, Deputy Chair of Dukinfield District Assembly, spearheaded the event and was delighted with the success of the day.

She told us: “From start to finish it went extremely well and the entertainment was first class.

“It’s a real shame that it was oversubscribed because it was a brilliant day and one which was made all the more successful by the volunteers who helped out.”

There were two sittings, the first running from midday until 2.30pm, and the second from 5pm to 7.30pm.

Attendees at the morning session had the privilege of hearing a rendition of carols sung by Lyndhurst Primary School choir, followed by bingo and other fun activities.

Stalybridge Brass Band provided the entertainment into the evening.
