Full steam ahead with Santa
Friday 13th December 2013 @ 20:34 by Lisa B

Father Christmas turned commuter on Saturday when he arrived at Glossop by train.

Despite having no reindeer, he was given a great welcome by 80 children, parents and grandparents,  who packed the platform to greet him.

The station friends’ group’s annual Santa Special had all the ingredients that makes it a huge hit year after year.

There were Christmas decorations to make, a model railway to play with, music, food, plus Father Christmas giving every child a goodie bag.

The switch-on of the tree lights this year fell to Northern Rail’s director of human resources Adrian Thompson who was given a tin of group member Bunty Gibson’s ‘Rocky Road’ cake as a thank you.

Group chairman Neil Williams was delighted with how the day went and  thanked everyone who helped in any way.
