A new and unique media company combining Tameside Radio 103.6FM, Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle is launched today.

Quest Media Network brings both companies together as one to provide a totally new and unrivalled mix of local news, entertainment and information to all of the communities across Tameside and Glossop.

It will provide a unique and interactive marketing proposition to local businesses that harnesses the newspapers average weekly readership of 60,000, coupled with Tameside’s most popular local community radio station which celebrated its six years of broadcasting in October.

Independent research conducted earlier this year confirmed that over 95,000 people have heard of and listen to the station on a weekly basis.

The creation of a new website for the Tameside Reporter & Glossop Chronicle which goes live today and can be found at www.tamesidereporter.com is also just the first step towards the launch of the company’s exciting new multimedia digital platform development which will offer a portfolio of sales and marketing opportunities that will combine affordable print, broadcast and digital marketing solutions to businesses within Tameside.

The new enhanced digital platform will complement its print and broadcast counterparts and serve to strengthen Quest’s commercial, news and information provision and online services.

The move is the culmination of an ever closer working partnership between the radio station and weekly newspaper group established over the last 12 months.

It also follows the relaunch of the Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle just over a year ago after they were given a new lease of life with support from housing association New Charter.

The two weekly newspaper titles, which have brought independent journalism to communities since 1855, returned with a whole new look and added focus and dedication to providing local community news.

Editor Nigel Skinner said: “Bringing the radio station and newspapers together and strengthening our online position is the next natural step after the close and successful working partnership that has been forged between the two companies.

“It means we can truly bring all of our strengths together in providing the very best local community news and information – immediately through breaking news stories on the radio and in depth in the newspapers and online and which sees our journalists reporting and working across all media formats, on air and on line and truly being part of the multi-media age.”

Director of Sales Marketing and Promotions John Chapman said ‘’ I believe the combination of our press, radio and digital proposition offers a totally new and truly unique opportunity for local businesses within Tameside and one that is both affordable and is already proving to be a great success in delivering tangible results for our customers’’.
