Tameside Remembers

Remembrance Day services will be held across Tameside from Friday, November 9, to Monday, November 11.

The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Joe Kitchen, said: “Given the present day demands on our armed forces it is clear that Remembrance events remain as important as ever.”

Saturday, November 9, Littlemoss: Service in memorial gardens, 2.30pm. St John’s Church Band. 

Sunday, November 10, Ashton Central: Parade will assemble on market ground at 9am and proceed to parish church for service at 9.45am. Afterwards parade will leave Stamford Street for the war memorial. Wreath-laying starts at 10.45am. Adamson’s Band.   

Cockbrook: Service in St Gabriel’s Church, Stamford Street, at 11am followed by wreath-laying at 12.30pm at memorial at the side of church. Lees Band. 

Hurst: Service in St John’s Church at 9.30am followed by procession to the memorial in Hurst Cemetery for wreath-laying and planting of personal poppies at 11am. 

Park Bridge: Service at memorial in the grounds of Park Bridge Institute at 10.45am. 

Waterloo: Parade will assemble at Canon Burrows Primary School, Oldham Road, at 2pm and proceed to war memorial on Oldham Road for service at 2.30pm. Christ Church Lads’ and Girls’ Brigade and West Hill School Band. 

Audenshaw:  Service and wreath-laying at war memorial in Audenshaw Cemetery at 3pm. No parade but St John’s (Mossley) Band will accompany hymns. 

Denton Central: Parade will assemble at 10am outside RBL Club, Grosvenor Street, setting off at 10.10am for Market Street remembrance garden where a wreath will be laid before continuing to Denton Town Hall. Parade will then reassemble at 10.20am and proceed to war memorial in Victoria Park for service at 10.45am. Ashton-under-Lyne Band.   

Haughton Green: Service in St Mary’s Church at 10.30am followed by wreath-laying ceremony at memorial on south side of church. 

Denton West: Wreath-laying at the Thornley Park memorial at 1.30pm.    

Droylsden: Parade will leave Greenside Lane car park at 10.15am and will proceed to Droylsden war memorial for Service and wreath-

Laying at 10.45am. St John’s Church Band.

Dukinfield: Parade leaves town hall, King Street, at 2.45pm for Chapel Hill war memorial. Service and wreath-laying at 3pm. Adamson’s Band. 

Hyde Central: Parade leaves Greenfield Street at 2pm for service at Central Methodist Church, Norfolk Street at 2.30pm. Parade will return to Hyde Town Hall for wreath-laying in foyer at 3.30pm. Ashton-under-Lyne Band. At conclusion wreaths will be laid at Falklands Memorial, Stockport Road.

Newton: Parade leaves Rosemount Methodist Church at 10am for war memorial outside George and Dragon, Bennett Street, for short service and wreath laying at 10.15am. St John’s (Mossley) Band and Christ Church Ashton Church Lads’ and Girls Brigade. 

Werneth: Procession leaves visitor centre, Higham Lane, at 11.45am for Werneth Low memorial where service and wreath-laying

ceremony at noon. West Hill School Band. Vehicular access will be made available. 

Longdendale: Broadbottom Parade assembles at Broadbottom Community Centre 10.30am and proceeds to war memorial. Act of remembrance at 10.45am.

Hollingworth: Service at St Mary’s Church at 10am followed by parade to war memorial for wreath-laying ceremony starting at 10.50am. Mossley Hollins School Band. 

Mottram: Service in Mottram Parish Church at 10.30am. 

Mossley: Service and wreath-laying at 10.45am at memorial outside old town hall in Mossley Park. Mossley Band.

Stalybridge: Parade leaves Armentieres Square

at 10.35am for Trinity Street war memorial.

Service and wreath-laying at 10.55am. Stalybridge Old Band. 

Monday, November 11, Ashton: Act of remembrance on town hall steps starting at 10.55am.

Godley, Hyde: Service and wreath-laying at Godley Hill Road war memorial at 10.50am.poppy
