Do you know a young person whose efforts deserve to be applauded? Someone who has gone the extra mile to help people, or battled illness or tragedy?

This Christmas they can get full recognition thanks to the Caring Kids in the Community Awards organised by Tameside Council’s cultural services team in association with Pendle

Twenty youngsters will be guests of honour at the December 5 performance of Cinderella at Dukinfield Town Hall when there will be festive treats galore.

They will get the full red-carpet treatment including a pre-show meet-and-greet with the panto stars and

other special guests.

Cllr Jackie Lane, Tameside

Council’s assistant executive member for culture, heritage and tourism, said: “We want to recognise the achievements of inspiring youngsters.

“It could be a child who has demonstrated exceptional courage and maturity beyond their years dealing with a serious illness or family upheaval. It could be a talented youngster who has excelled on sports field or the stage or someone who has simply shown a heart of gold as a good neighbour or by helping a charity.”

Nominations are open to all under-

18s living in Tameside. E-mail them to [email protected] with full details of name, age, address and the reason why you believe they deserve the VIP treatment.

Don’t forget to add your own name and address too.

The closing date for nominations is Wednesday, November 20.
